Sascha Müller
Water is everywhere and drives all life on earth. I am an enthusiastic Hydrogeologist on a long excursion into biological systems slowly converging into an environmental scientist. I am passionate about understanding the complexities of subsurface transport of water and particles from nanoscale to catchment scale. The more interdisciplinary the better.
Why soil chips?
If we want to understand nanoplastic transport in aquifers, we need to account for the small scale processes occurring in the pore space filled with bacteria and fungi. I use microfluidic chips to investigate the interaction between nanoplastics and fungi. This not just to produce nice visualizations of the interaction, but also helps me localizing and quantifying the interaction at the reactive scale.
